Life Transitions
Everyone faces different transitions as they make the journey from childhood to adulthood. Although transition is positive and necessary, it often creates numerous challenges as well. Individuals sometime face difficulties meeting these challenges, and therapy can help move them through their changes.
In adolescence, teenagers first start separating from their parents as they experience changes and try to establish their own identities. This time can often be turbulent, and teenagers may struggle with intense feelings, personality and bodily changes, and academic pressure.
College-age individuals face challenges because they are no longer children but are also not quite adults, moving from the safety of their parents’ homes to a new stage of living independently. In addition, pressure to establish goals and set themselves up for the future can make this transition period more intense.
